Catch-Up Classes

About the project. In the summer of 2022, we held catch-up classes. We create catch-up classes for students in grades 5-11 who need additional courses to master the material of the main subjects and make up for what they missed due to the war. For five weeks, the children deepened their knowledge of mathematics, English and Ukrainian languages, physics, biology, and chemistry.

Each age category had its schedule and program. Teachers prepared interesting developments, various printouts and used multimedia equipment. Everything aimed to encourage children to study in the summer. Teachers did not assign homework or grade. However, some children asked for an assignment, and some even brought it to be checked.

During the summer training camp, children were able to:

improve knowledge of mathematics and understand basic concepts to confidently solve not only problems on tests or external examinations but also to apply knowledge in practice;
deepen knowledge of the Ukrainian language. We considered the main sections of linguistics, which you need to know to pass the external examination and further study the material successfully;
improve knowledge of the English language to communicate with foreigners easily, write them a letter without mistakes, be able to speak abroad, read foreign magazines and books;
understand physics, chemistry, biology, and other optional subjects.

The goal is to help schoolchildren catch up on the material they missed due to the war and organize enjoyable leisure time.

Catch-up classes took place in two formats. In the online format, 2,000 Ukrainian children living in Ukraine or forced to move abroad took part. Training took place for five weeks, 9 hours a week.

Offline lessons, which took place in four schools in Lviv, were attended by 1,000 schoolchildren from different regions of Ukraine who were in Lviv then.

In total, 1479 online lessons and 1465 lessons were conducted. 21 teachers were involved in the program.
